Matthew Gehl will join as head of technology investment banking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the autumn, following a period of gardening leave, according to an internal memo signed by JPMorgan’s co-head of corporate coverage in Emea, Harry Hampson.
Gehl, who began his career at Goldman Sachs, has spent the last seven years in the same role at Deutsche Bank helping to rebuild its technology investment banking business in the region.
Boser’s responsibilities had been taken over temporarily by Sanjay Jain, who was JPMorgan’s global head of software investment banking, based in California, before relocating to London last year.
Jain will continue to work with JPMorgan’s technology coverage group and other industry coverage teams “to help their clients address the evolving impact of technology on their sectors,” according to the memo.
Hampson wrote in the memo: “Sanjay and Matt will work together with Hugo Baring and Joachim Sonne [co-heads of technology, media, and telecom banking for Emea] to ensure efficient use of resources and agree priorities for the team.”
